About

Hello!

I’m Sophie.

Gatherer. Connector. Storyteller.

For most of my life, I have had the most amazing friends. Friends who loved to linger over delicious food, friends who met for coffee, friends who'd pile onto the lounge and talk well into the early hours. Life was full. I am still grateful for every bit of it.

But looking back, I'm not sure I ever truly felt safe with a friend. Not in that deep, quiet way.

Then came a girls' trip to Far North Queensland. My friend had travelled all the way from the west coast of the USA, and I was so excited to show her this part of the world - the colours, the reef, the kind of beauty that takes your breath away.

After a full day out on the water and a slow, delicious dinner by the sea, we sank back into our pillows and started talking. And at some point, the conversation opened up, real, honest, from somewhere deep. No filter, no performing, just two friends in the quiet of a room at the end of a beautiful day.

And in that moment, I realised I had been longing for this my whole life. A friend I could trust with my heart, who understood me. A bestie. A ride-or-die.

Maybe you know that feeling?

We were made to be truly known.

Not the polished, put-together version we show the world, but the real one. The one with the complicated feelings, the quiet fears, the parts we're not sure anyone would accept. We want someone to see all of that and stay anyway.

We all want to belong.

To have a place, and people, where we don't have to explain ourselves or earn our spot. Where we're simply welcome, just as we are, on our best days and our messiest ones. We were created for connection, real, authentic connection.

And I believe it starts when we gather.

I’m the author of several books — cookbooks, children’s books, and resource books for developing countries. Right now I’m writing something I’ve never written before: a book about what it truly means to thrive together. And through The Together Project, I’m building a community for people who are done with surface-level connection and ready for something real.

My love for food and hospitality has taken many forms over the years. I ran a food business with a simple mission: helping fellow food lovers discover the joy of Mediterranean cooking. Through hands-on classes and intimate gatherings, I guided home cooks through the flavours, techniques, and traditions that make this cuisine so special.

The adventure didn’t stop in the kitchen — I also had the privilege of leading a small group on an unforgettable 8-day foodie tour through Greece, where we spent most of our time soaking up the incredible food culture of the island of Crete. From local markets to family tavernas, it was the kind of trip that changes the way you think about food forever.

More recently, I’ve loved bringing that same passion into the classroom, teaching high school students the art of cooking from scratch and helping them develop real skills and a genuine appreciation for food made with care and intention.

But what I’m truly passionate about is something deeper than food itself — it’s gathering people together, creating spaces where everyone spends authentic time with one another and knows, without a doubt, that they belong.

That’s exactly why I’m creating events where people can connect, be themselves, and finally find their belonging.

The Together Project

Some of the best things in life happen when people come together, really together. Not just in the same room, but present, open and connected.

I discovered a few years ago when I found myself in a room full of strangers from all over the world. We hardly had anything in common on paper but somewhere between the chopping and the stirring, the tasting and the laughing, something shifted. Walls came down. Conversations opened up. Strangers became friends.

The Together Project is built on a simple belief: that community doesn’t just happen by accident. It has to be created, tended to, and given the right conditions to grow. When it does, something beautiful unfolds. People feel seen. Friendships form. Lives are quietly changed.

This is a space for anyone longing for that. Whether you’re new to an area, in a season of change, or simply craving deeper connection, you belong here.

The Book

The Together Project: Building Communities Where People Thrive

The book is coming, a love letter to connection, to the friendships we long for, the communities we need, and the simple everyday ways we can build them.

Stay close. It won’t be long.
